Tyson Mcguffin grew up in Lake Chelan, Washington. His family was passionate about sports in general, but especially wrestling. Tyson played wrestling during his childhood but ultimately turned down the opportunity to play in college in exchange for a scholarship.
Instead, he spent his time playing tennis competitively.
As he learned more about the sport, he made the switch from tennis player to tennis instructor.
He was first introduced to pickleball during his time as a tennis instructor at a local YMCA.
