Pickleball is a racquet sport that’s all the rage as a casual game and a highly competitive sport. The game is played on a badminton-sized court with paddles that are similar to ping-pong paddles. It may be a new game compared to other racquet sports, but the growing pickleball community is passionate about reaching new players at pickleball courts around the world.

Austin Pickle Ranch

Austin Pickle Ranch is expected to open summer of 2023. This highly anticipated pickleball venue will have cool drinks, delicious food, and 32 pickleball courts so everyone can get their court time in.

The exact pricing for pickleball courts at Austin Pickle Ranch is not yet known, but it will likely be comparable to other bar/pickleball venues in Austin.

This new pickleball center will also host outdoor pilates and concerts.

The Dittmar Recreation Center has a 13,368-square-foot gymnasium that serves many purposes. Basketball, volleyball, and indoor pickleball are all played in the gymnasium. There is open play pickleball twice a week that anyone can partake in for free!

The Gus Garcia Recreation Center has a 20,000-square-foot gymnasium with a rock wall, an aerobic room, basketball goals, and lines for one pickleball court.

The pickleball court is available every Saturday for free open play. While this isn’t the largest or the nicest pickleball spot in Austin, it’s still a good court to get in some free practice shots.

The South Austin Recreation Center is one of the few locations with outdoor and indoor courts in Austin. There are four courts indoors available for open play on Mondays and two lighted outdoor courts. Outdoors you’ll also find a playscape, picnic area, and lighted ball fields.

Jewish Community Center

Jewish Community Center

The Jewish Community Center in Austin has a number of athletic activities for members, including pickleball. Open play is free for JCC members and their guests, with open play hours each week on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

The Quarries at Hyde Park High School

The Quarries at Hype Park High School is an indoor gymnasium used for a number of activities throughout the week. You can reserve a time to play when the gymnasium is divided into three indoor courts.

Equipment is available at no added cost for players that don’t have their own.

Bouldin Acres is a bar that’s always full of pickleball players from the Austin area. There are food trucks, lawn games, a dog park, and playgrounds on-site to accompany the two outdoor pickleball courts.

Courts are rented by the half hour. What really makes Bouldin Acres so special is the atmosphere that captures the spirit of Austin, Texas.

The Fieldhouse at the Crossover is a unique spot with outdoor courts, a volleyball court, cornhole boards, live music, an outdoor movie theater, and a full bar! One court is available for public use, while the other two can be reserved in advance. 2 balls are provided with all reservations. Rental paddles are available.

Dottie Jordan Recreation Center is a community center with both outdoor and indoor pickleball courts. The outdoor courts are lined on a tennis court, while the indoor court is lined in a multipurpose room. Both outdoor courts are lighted, and the center is most popular among casual players.

Little Zilker Neighborhood Park

Little Zilker Neighborhood Park has two tennis courts that double as pickleball courts. Each of the tennis courts is lined with one pickleball court. The courts are free to use on a first-come, first-served basis, but you have to bring your own portable net. Some reviews state that the lines are faded, so this isn’t an ideal setting for a beginner to learn the basics.
